Individual Membership Types
1. Independent Educational Consultants (IEC)
a. Prospective members must provide literature or website links with relevant information and may be asked to submit a description of the college counseling services they provide.
b. Prospective members applying for Individual/IEC membership must demonstrate two years of experience as an IEC.
c. Current members transitioning to an IEC role must:
i. Have two years of combined experience as a secondary school counselor/post-secondary representative or in work directly related to supporting students in accessing post-secondary education.
ii. Been an active member of International ACAC for a minimum of two years.
d. Persons registered as voting members of NACAC or members of CIS in the Independent Educational Consultants category are eligible as Individual Members of International ACAC, Small Organizations (IEC), and For-Profit Organizations (IEC) depending on the size of the company.
2. Small For-Profit Organizations
a. Members in this category should work in a small company with three or fewer employees (including administrative support, part-time and full-time employees, and/or freelance/seasonal hires).
b. Prospective members applying for this category must provide literature or website links with relevant information and may be asked to submit a description of the services they provide.
c. Prospective members applying under the Small Organization category as an IEC must demonstrate two years of experience as an IEC.
d. Current members transitioning to a Small Organization as an IEC must:
i. Have two years of combined experience as a secondary school counselor/post-secondary school counselor or in work directly related to supporting students in accessing post-secondary education.
ii. Been an active member of International ACAC for a minimum of two years.
3. Individual Associate
a. An education professional working in an independent, consultancy/short-term contractual role supporting organizations and/or secondary and post-secondary institutions in recommended ethical practices related to supporting students transitioning to higher education.
b. Previous membership with International ACAC and relevant professional membership of five years or more is required to be considered in this membership category.
4. Retired
a. Members in this category should have previously been engaged in the international admissions industry for a minimum of 10 years.
b. Members in this category should not be consistently employed in the international admissions industry in either a part-time or a full-time role.
c. Members in this category may take part in periodic consulting or freelance work within the industry, though any term of such income should be limited to no more than a year.
5. Independent Member
a. This subcategory is designed for International ACAC members that are currently between jobs. Members are eligible for this category for up to one year.
