International Admissions Counselor

As a member of the Undergraduate Admissions team at The Ohio State University, the International Admissions Counselor will manage an international recruitment territory; execute territory specific recruitment activities and events in collaboration with partner offices using data, reports and analysis tools/technology; develop and maintain positive relationships with secondary schools, travel to secondary schools and college fairs to represent The Ohio State University with possible/extensive travel up to 12 weeks per year internationally, potentially 3-4 consistent weeks in a given semester; make recruitment outreach to prospective students in collaboration with partner offices; host virtual presentations and counseling sessions for international students; host international school counselors in information sessions on-campus and in international locations; monitor a territory specific budget; analyze prospective student data; learn and use the Empowering Market Analysis (EMA) system, CRM system, Student Information System, and other technologies to perform timely and accurate entries into databases regarding student application information, call/email activity and other processes, performing data validation; and manage electronic workflows. The International Admissions Counselor will develop an understanding and expertise in international curricula and secondary school graduation requirements in order to counsel students on application and admissions requirements.

 

Additional responsibilities: the International Admissions Counselor will be responsible for include but are not limited to; counsels and corresponds with students, families, university departments, or other stakeholders regarding The Ohio State University undergraduate admissions policies, procedures, and general information over the phone, via email, and in person; conducts large and small-group presentations; learns and maintains knowledge of the areas within the office and university to best direct questions from staff and guests; researches and resolves problems; assists with on and off campus recruitment events and projects; coordinates recruitment for special programs, as assigned, which may include transfer, veterans, and College Credit Plus; providing support to access on/off campus programs and initiatives; reviews applications (domestic, international, transfer, special population) and makes admissions recommendations through our holistic application review process – actual time commitment will fluctuate through the year; participates as an active member of the Undergraduate Admissions team through membership on committees; and completes special assignments and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Program planning and implementation experience. Excellent oral, written and international communication skills. Conflict resolution skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate.

Ability to travel internationally. Early morning, evening, and weekend hours required.

Desired:

Prior international admissions experience preferred. Knowledge of data interpretation. Knowledge of CRM and other recruitment technology platforms. 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.

The pay range for this job profile is $17.31/hr – $22.77/hr. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
