THE ROLE

As our University Guidance Counsellor, you will play a pivotal role in guiding students through the UK university application process as part of our UGC team, as well as other global systems including the USA, Canda, HK, etc. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Student Support: Provide personalised guidance to students in areas including student growth, application preparation, and understanding the requirements of a variety of international education applications and systems. Develop and implement strategies for academic and career planning, including subject selection and personal statements.
  • Parent and Teacher Collaboration: Work closely with parents and teachers to support student aspirations. Organize information sessions and workshops for parents and students.
  • Career Education: Deliver and support the careers education curriculum, ensuring it aligns with our school's goals and fosters a high-achievement culture.
  • University Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with university admissions tutors and representatives from top universities.

We’ll look to you to promote high expectations for our students, designing learning activities that are aligned to our school’s Secondary curriculum and creating a learning culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved. You will foster an environment of respect within the classroom, facilitating learning through questioning and discussion.

 

ABOUT YOU

You will be able to adapt quickly to our fast-paced international environment. Committed and creative, you will be reflective on your own teaching and student outcomes, seeking out and implementing new ideas and innovative methods to raise the school’s level of achievement.

Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students. You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for China, including at least 2 years of related experiences, and hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree.


PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS

  • Hold a recognised qualification and/or considerable experience as a University Guidance Counsellor.
  • With solid knowledge in UK education systems in both secondary and university level.
  • Knowledgeable of world class curriculums including IGCSE, A level and International curriculums and associated assessment methods.
  • Understanding of effective teaching and learning theory and practice of providing effectively for the individual needs of all learners through organization, differentiation and learning strategies.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for producing reports and presentations.
  • Good cross-cultural, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures.
  • Excellent analytical skills – with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success.
  • Results orientated with the ability to consistently map efforts against identified KPIs.
  • Excellent time management skills and flexibility in dealing with multi-functional tasks.
  • You’d like to work in a purpose-led sector.
